The Final Hoist

When is the LAST time, we wonder as parents? The last bottle, the last night in the crib, a concluding ride in the toddler stroller?  'The Final Hoist' represents the last piggy back ride, unbeknown to us.  In this piece, we witness the bittersweet eruption of fading joy and nascent independence.  The vibrant blues and muted oranges, once a comforting embrace, now swirl and dissipate like fleeting memories, hinting the child's growing weight and parents gentle release. The swirling, ethereal forms suggest the playful movement and laughter of the ride, yet the underlying dark green hints at the quiet, grounding reality of growing up. The sharp, almost geometric shapes, emerging from the softer forms represent the childs new found structure and readiness to stand on their own while the lingering whisps of color symbolize the enduring love and cherished memories of childhoods end.
