'Collateral Beauty' is a 24"x30" exploration of form and color, showcasing how the unexpected can be transformed into something beautiful, in an unscripted way. Sometimes the accidental or unwanted, something that seems undesirable, can emerge into the silver lining of our life.  The chaos of life and the way that we look at challenges can unfold into something far more meaningful than one could imagine.
'Collateral Beauty' is meant to draw the viewers eye across the canvas, discovering unexpected bursts of color from deep magentas to teals to soft yellows and peaches- emerging from a sea of greens.  These greens dominate the lower half, suggesting growth and life while softer yellows, oranges and a pale sky-blue in the upper center, evoke warmth, optimism and peace. These elements, much as a cactus in an arid landscape highlight beauty found in surprising places. The intention of this work is to evoke peace in what we cannot control and excitement for the wild ride ahead.
