'Eight', is a 24"x 36" acrylic on canvas, showcasing one of the most magical ages of childhood. This work embodies the raw innocence and curiosity of an eight year old as well as the total transformation into their unique self. The composition is characterized by overlapping colors and textures of soft greens, blues and deep purples, with bright white occasionally creeping across the canvas. These muted tones suggest a world of imagination and gentle exploration, not harsh or forced but organic and original. Erratic lines travel across the painting as expressive brushstrokes and swirling lines implying a sense of uninhibited curiosity and adventure and boundless energy as well as a discovery of self. The delicate, swirling strands of color on the side of the painting suggest childlike scribbles and doodles- spontaneous expression and freedom while unexpected, more bold florals speak to unforeseen growth and resilience-both physically and emotionally.
