A Mother's Daydream #1

'A Mother’s Daydream’ is a series of paintings, oil on canvas. This series of works is meant to symbolize our “daydreams” as mothers, trying to hold it all together while still living in the fleeting moments. The compositions visually represent the myriad thoughts and emotions that converge in a single quiet moment of reflection….when we have time for that sacred moment. Rarely a composed thought, sometimes the quiet reflection leads to gratitude or nostalgia while other-times trepidations, anxiety, constant planning or even moments of panic while actually realizing something is about to fall through the cracks. The soft pastels and gentle curves evoke feelings of happiness, love and daily joy. These serene elements are interwoven with sharper lines and contrasting shapes, symbolizing the constant mental juggling and worry that lives in our thoughts. The way the different shapes and colors interlock and overlap suggests the effort required to keep everything in place. This series is meant to capture these “daydreams” as a vision of beauty and resilience, even amidst the anxiety and panic. These works become a visual metaphor for the strength and resilience needed to maintain harmony amidst the beautiful chaos of family life.
